Incas History

Incas History

The Incas had their empire in the region that was situated in the present day Peru. They lived here in the period from the AD 1200 to 1533. The Incas history tells us that during the powerful periods of their empire, they acquired a good part of western South America into their empire either by conquering or by assimilating them peacefully. The empire had its center in the Andes Mountain ranges.
The Incan empire however did not live very long. Incas history related that the empire was short lived mainly due to Spanish conquerors. The last emperor of Inca was Atahualpa, who was ordered to be killed by the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizzaro. This happened in 1533 AD, and this marked the start of the Spanish reign in South America.

Pizarro played a game that has been described in the past as dirty. He first captured the king, and asked for gold as ransom. He collected close to eight tons of gold in four months, and instead of letting the Inca ruler go free once the ransom was collected, he ordered him to be strangled publicly.
The name of the Incan Empire, according to Incas history, was Tawantin Suyu in Quechua language, an off shoot of the Proto Quechua language that was spoken in ancient times. The name Tawatin Suyu means “The Four United Regions”, or “The Four Regions”. Before the spelling of Quechua was reformed, the country was written in spanish as Tahuantinsuyo. Suyo means province or region.
